Hillside Clubhouse is a community mental health service based near Caledonian Road, Islington. It provides support and rehabilitation for adults experiencing enduring mental ill-health through the Clubhouse model. Members are involved in running every aspect of the organisation, from working on reception to running the café: this provides members with the opportunity to have a structured workday, build up experience to help access employment opportunities, and be part of a socially-inclusive and stimulating community. Clubhouse staff provide holistic support—both in developing employment skills, but also through providing non-employment related practical and emotional support.
Hillside also provides commissioned Individual Placement & Support (IPS) services in two local areas, Camden and Islington. These are IAPT-based services designed to support people with severe mental health problems into sustained employment, through intensive and individualised support, a placement in paid employment, and subsequent in-work support for both the employee and the employer.
The Stone Family Foundation first began funding Hillside Clubhouse in 2011 to support those with more severe and enduring mental health problems. Its current unrestricted grant is helping Hillside to build its internal fundraising capability.
