Paul joined the Foundation as the Director of WASH in October 2015 and brings over 15 years’ experience in the global water and sanitation sector.
Paul’s experience to date has bridged both rural and urban programming and his strength is connecting people, ideas and finance in a strategic way. Prior to this, Paul worked at Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) where he played a key role in the development of the organisation over seven years, latterly as the Director for Partnerships & Development in charge of strategic partnerships and communications. A key part of this was a focus on the development of market-based solutions in WASH, with Paul playing a leading role in the development of WSUP’s work in this area. Paul started his career at WaterAid, where he spent over four years supporting their African, South Asian and Pacific programmes.
Tom joined the Foundation in early 2021 as Senior WASH Portfolio Manager, with over 10 years’ experience in operations, start-up and investment roles. He previously worked at Factor[e] Ventures, looking to find and build investable ventures in the energy, agriculture and sanitation sectors to accelerate development.
Before that, Tom led the country operations of BIMA in Tanzania, delivering affordable, mass-market health and insurance services using mobile technology. He started his career as a management consultant with PwC in London.
Souraya joined the Stone Family Foundation in June 2017 as WASH Portfolio Manager, after having spent four years at Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) where she worked in finance and donor relationship management.
Prior to this, Souraya spent three years at InterAide, a French NGO, supporting its rural WASH and health programmes in Malawi. Souraya has a background in economics and finance and started her career as a financial auditor.
Zoe joined the Foundation in January 2019 as WASH Portfolio Manager, having spent the previous 10 years working in fundraising and corporate partnerships.
Zoe has a keen interest in the role that business can play in tackling international development challenges, from social enterprises and small businesses to large corporations. Prior to joining the Foundation Zoe worked for Malaria No More UK, developing partnerships with companies in the fight to end malaria. She previously worked at Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) in donor relationship management and partnership development.
Zoe started her career as a corporate partnerships account manager, working primarily with large legal and financial firms to deliver their CSR activities.
Kathryn joined the Foundation as Enterprise Development Manager in November 2019. Kathryn previously spent five years working for Baringa Partners, a global management consultancy, which helps business run more efficiently, navigate industry shifts and reach new markets.
During this time, she worked within retail and network businesses in the UK energy and water industry. Prior to this Kathryn delivered projects for social enterprises in the energy and WASH sector across Africa, Haiti and Cambodia, as a consultant for Whitten & Roy Partnership, a sales performance and management consultancy.
The Foundation’s mental health and disadvantaged youth portfolios are managed by NPC.
NPC is the think tank and consultancy for the social sector. Their mission is to help charities, foundations, philanthropists, impact investors, social enterprises, corporates, and the public sector to maximise social impact in the lives of the people they serve.
Charlotte leads projects that help charities and funders evaluate, improve and communicate their impact, with an interest in governance and leadership. Recent projects include research on leadership and decision making throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, published in Charity Boards in Recovery and NPC’s trusteeship seminars run in partnership with The Clothworkers’ Company. Charlotte also leads NPC’s work on children and young people.
Before joining NPC, Charlotte studied for an MSc in Cognitive and Decision Sciences at UCL, and has a keen interest in how behavioural insights can be used to affect attitude and behaviour change. Prior to this, Charlotte worked for KPMG as a Management Consultant, where she worked in a variety of areas, including change management, culture change and organisation design across the private and public sectors.
Margery works with charities and funders to maximise their impact. She supports several family foundations with their grant-making and provides effective philanthropy support to corporate clients.
Before joining NPC, Margery worked for management consultancy Oliver Wyman, where she focused on organisational effectiveness and culture change. As well as work with commercial clients, she provided strategic advice to charities as part of the firm’s social impact programme.
At NPC Abi supports charities and funders to understand, measure and communicate their impact.
Before joining NPC, Abi worked as a community development officer at Oxford City Council, and as a project officer for the social action charity Oxford Hub.
Abi advises the Foundation on its Disadvantaged Youth and Mental Health portfolios. She assists the grant managers to identify and assess new organisations and helps grant holders with their reporting.

At NPC, Giulia works with charities, funders and impact investors to better understand, improve and communicate their impact.
Before joining NPC, Giulia worked as a public sector consultant focused on engagement and behaviour change and studied for an MSc in Social Cognition at UCL.
Giulia advises the Foundation across both its Mental Health and Disadvantaged Youth portfolios. She supports Foundation’s Board to identify and assess potential new opportunities for investment, and prepares grant recommendations. She also manages the Foundation’s grants across the two portfolios, assisting grantees in their reporting.
