Many people who have troubles in life feel isolated, even among their family or friends. Samaritans is here to listen 24 hours a day. Calling its telephone number is free of charge. You can call if you are worried about relationships, jobs or money; if you are grieving, depressed or suicidal; or just need to talk about whatever is getting to you. The Samaritans offer complete privacy and a sympathetic ear.
The Samaritans respond to phone calls, emails, texts, letters or you can visit in person to talk in a safe, confidential space. It operates through 201 Samaritans branches across the UK and Republic of Ireland, via the free-to-call number 116 123.
The Foundation has supported Samaritans since 2012. Its current grant supported Samaritans to commission a Caller Outcomes Study to evidence the impact the helpline has on callers’ mental health, as well as providing funding to cover core costs.
