Over two million young people in the UK live with the daily reality of economic deprivation. The odds are stacked against them from the day they are born. Many of them fail at school, and when they leave, most can’t get jobs. All too often their situation is passed on to their own children.
Impetus transforms the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by ensuring they get support to succeed in education, in work, and in life, thereby breaking this cycle of inter-generational poverty. It does this by finding the best charities in the country working with these young people; invests in them, and helps build them to have a bigger impact on more young lives.
Impetus makes this happen through a unique combination of long-term hands-on management expertise, specialist tools and resources, access to a network of 400 world-class pro bono experts, and an injection of unrestricted funding.
Impetus works with over 20 charity partners, and through its programmes currently helps over 80,000 young people to achieve in education, prepare for and gain and keep long-term employment and develop essential life skills.
The SFF’s unrestricted grant is helping Impetus to support more charities and raise the profile of the need to support young people to ensure they get the right support to succeed in school, in work and in life.
