Grundfos has developed pioneering technologies that improve quality of life for people and care for the planet, developing these into innovative models that combine a range of technologies to deliver safe, sustainable water services to people in low income areas, primarily Africa and Asia.
Grundfos Lifelink water solutions combines solar power, water dispensers with pre-paid metering – the Grundfos AQtap water ATM – and payment through mobile telephone systems.
This is proving an efficient and effective way to deliver safe, affordable and convenient water to customers and is being trialled in both rural and urban areas. The model can be customised according to client and customer needs.
The Foundation is supporting the use of the Grundfos Lifelink system in rural Kenya, where 60 water kiosks in Nakuru and Makueni counties are being automated and connected to mobile payment services. The project is being implemented in partnership with World Vision UK and Kenya.
