Tutors United

£135,000 grant funding from 2018 – 2021

Tutors United envision a day where income has no impact on education, and are on a mission to use the power of tutoring to break down the barriers in education and enable every child to succeed.

Tutors United deliver confidence-boosting, attainment-raising tutorials to primary school pupils who need extra support to reach their full potential. They do this by hiring and training talented university students to deliver after-school community based small group tutoring lessons in core subjects, with a specially devised curriculum designed by expert teachers. They are an affordable option for parents, funders and Housing Associations who want to see brilliant results for 8 – 11 year olds before they make the transition to secondary school.

Since 2013, Tutors United has employed and trained over 150 university students and provided tutoring to 900 primary school pupils across 18 London Boroughs and Cambridge. They are now are taking the exciting step of expanding their services into Birmingham; supporting more pupils to attain quality education and have successful futures.
