Head of Programmes – WASH Portfolio

We are looking to recruit a permanent Head of Programmes to start immediately in a small, friendly London office. The position will act as a maternity cover for an initial period of 9 to 12 months but it is a permanent full time position.

We are at an exciting stage in our development as over the next five years we will significantly increase our investment in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) from around £6M per year currently (2018), to £10M per year by 2021, continuing this growth to 2022 and beyond.

To realise the potential of this investment, the Foundation has developed a three-person management team which includes a Director of WASH, a Head of WASH Programmes as well as a WASH Programme Manager and this role marks an expansion of the office.

Core to our approach is our belief that entrepreneurship and business have a role to play in delivering improved and sustainable water and sanitation services for consumers living in Africa and Asia. We see our role as providing seed capital—as a grant or an impact investment—to help exciting and promising new approaches prove their model and grow in scale.

We like to be an engaged funder with a high-risk appetite, willing to provide flexible funding in order to maximise social impact. We are also working on bringing innovative finance and disruptive approaches to the sector including applying revenue royalty finance and scoping a development impact bond.

The ideal candidate will have a background in grant making, impact investment or enterprise development and a commitment to the role enterprises can play to delivering better services in emerging markets.

To support this, we are looking for a strong core skill set of analytical thinking, strong written and verbal communications, strong relationship building and a good sense of humour – sector knowledge isn’t a core requisite.

Please download the Job Description (link to the right) and consider this exciting opportunity to join a focused, sector leading Foundation at a time of considerable opportunity and growth.

Please send your CV to pgunstensen@thesff.com by 9pm Sunday 2nd December to be considered.

Candidates must have the right to work and live in the UK.
